Ali Moustafa Mosharafa (1898 - 1950)

Ali Moustafa Mosharafa was an Egyptian theoretical physicist, professor of applied mathematics, and the first appointed dean of applied mathematics in the Faculty of Science at Cairo University.

He contributed to the development of the quantum theory as well as the theory of relativity, publishing 25 original papers and 12 scientific books. His books on relativity were translated into English, French, German and Polish. He also translated 10 books on astronomy and mathematics into Arabic.

He corresponded with Albert Einstein and met with him on his visit to Egypt in the city of Port Said.

Mosharafa was interested in the relationship between music and mathematics, and helped establish the Egyptian society of music in 1945.
